Not! Up to nine horses in training now. Would be ten, but one has no stamina for training. I'm not asking much of him either, just 10 minutes and I haven't even been able to evaluate what he knows! So, now frustrated, I've turned him over to Jessi to train next month. Just so I can see what he knows of his ground manners. I won't learn his personality as quickly, but he won't exhaust himself either.
Who are these horses you wonder? Well come take a tour of the training barn with me!

Everyone has already met Lena. She's my little 209 Apollo daughter. She is a firecracker, just when you think she's getting it, Boom!, she's treating it like she's never seen/done it before.
Love this silly girl though, she's being introduced to Western tasks and we'll see how she does with it.

Next up is Fade. He is new to the farm as of just a few months ago. He is a Grey Overo -- with Frame and Splash -- and buckskin roan under the grey. He has been evaluated and I discovered that he needed little to no work on his Ground training and we've been working on getting him to walk out. Fade is one of the new Somali lines we've brought in from the auctions.
This is Jade, a handsome grey tobiano gelding. Yes, gelding he injured his testicles in his first breeding here at the farm. This flashy boy is also working on walking out nicely. He like Fade, is new to the farm. He is expecting the first Somali foal from this new crop of imports!
Glow is a grey/white mare with one sock/stocking. Based on her genetic testing results she is Chestnut under the grey with no testable patterns. She is working on walking out as well. She is confirmed in foal to Jade due around 2560. I have everything crossed that the foal will be clear or only a carrier and not affected as both are carriers. She is one of the Somali imports that we picked up at the auctions.
Sori is a Bay Rabiciano mare, that I think carries Splash. She is working on walking out. I love the amount of rabiciano roaning on this pretty girl. She is one of the Somali imports that we picked up at the auctions. Not the best built or tempered, but does not seem to have a personality that matches her temperament. She seems to fight the urge to explode like her temper suggests.
Crier has been around for a while, Thanks Marshell!, she is STILL working on Ground work. We have finally made it to working on the long reins, but boy does she fight everything. This LS mare will be bred according to how she fits up after training.
Roany is another Somali mare. This pretty Bay Roan girl is working on riding in the trailer. She is a nice little girl and tries to do what I ask.
Stone is a handsome grey Somali stallion with a white stocking. He looks like he might be roan as well as grey, but it is hard to tell. He is working on standing nicely while tied.
The final horse I am working with every day is my boy Cash. I stupidly strained his tendon by sitting on him. I allowed myself to get distracted and his injury is the result. I am so glad that he is a sturdy boy and that I am light so it is not permanent. He is working on standing tied nicely too.
