Well, with Magik Dreams doing so well Micha thought we could take on one more small project. So Dreams on the Wind was developed. Located just up the road from Magik Dreams, DotW will focus on Racking Horses for Gaited competition. Though they can compete anywhere they are best suited for. Since the herd is so small (3 horses) let me introduce you to them.
This handsome, charismatic colt is Thunder. Moves like a dream, smart (almost TOO smart), has great endurance, and a horrible temper. This poor boy is only what I would call "fair" on his halter training. Thank goodness for attached runs so he gets some turn out time. He may end up gelded, though I am considering collecting him and storing it for later use.
This lovely lady is Misty. She has beautiful conformation and decent speed. She is pretty average everywhere else, though she is rather foul of temper and not very strong. There will be no fine harness point for this girl that I can see. She makes up for it with her five lovely gaits and the adorable snowflake pattern!
The gorgeous bay blanket is our other colt. Sierra is the only "carrier" of the genetic disorder. He is amazingly agile, not that smart but makes up for it with how willing to please he is. His conformation is weak, but his temperament makes up for that. He has decent stamina and strength. I can hardly wait for him to mature a little more so I can see if he develops gaits or heart or presence or something. That will just make him all the more special. He will be the sire of Misty's first foal when he is old enough.
That is the herd for a few years. Oh, I almost forgot. Just picked up a gelding named Tick from the classifieds. Already a Grand Champion, he'll help bring some money to the farm here while the Rackers are training. I'm looking forward to going in the ring in a gaited competition for the first time since I was child.
